(Austin) Mini Moke (1964-93) 1275cc S4 OHV Transverse *Production 50.500
Registration Number 4477 AL

Initially designed by Sir Alec Issigonis as a prototype light military vehicle on similar lines to the Mini. But the small wheels and limited ground clearance made off road use impracticable. It was subsequently offered as a civilian low cost small utility vehicle. The Moke finally achieved sucess as a beach buggy and became a cult vehicle thanks to its iconic role in the Prisoner TV series.
The Moke used a variety of Mini engines.
In total 50,500 were produced. 14,500 at Longbridge, England, 26,000 in Australia and 10,000 in Portugal
